i try to nourish the seeds that i plant
but at times the soil weighs heavy
of all the seeds i’ve planted
all the seeds i’ve grown
all the seeds i’ve continued to water
yet have ended up with leaves slowly falling apart
piece by piece attempting to save it with rays of light
its warmth wasn’t enough
still, some remain
as i work on growing the leaves on my branches
attempting to restore the anchor of my own roots
i’ve forgotten to water the others as often as i once have
months go by, we carry on
our branches move in different directions
and separately, we find that we flourish
fruits and new flowers we never knew capable
maybe someday, our branches will intertwine
filled with buds so newly bloomed
able to water one another
able to grow with each other
able to breathe under the same sun
and merge into a beautiful garden
