tonight, the moon is bright

its white light glares reflectively on my face.

have you noticed that it’s the same white light that is watching over you, too?

and it’s the same white light that has once kept us company, as we stood next to each other, looking out into the sea.

i recall so vividly the silence between us.

ebbing and flowing were the sounds of the waves, singing an ode to the loss of that moment we knew so well to be only temporary.

intertwined by the moon, the stars, and the sky—but divided by water.

split by distance but not by kilometers.

it is the distance of time that separates us further.

memories fade, and the images play on as imagination.

feelings evolving, perspective changing.

yet the moon remains the same.

bright.

its white light glares reflectively on our faces.

together and apart.
